Baltimore born WWII Veteran and businessman Julian Hyman offers $1000 college scholarship in bid to help save our world!
College bound students are being invited to apply for a $1000 scholarship from WWII veteran and businessman, Julian Hyman. The successful applicant will write a thousand-word essay on their world-saving ideas. All they have to do is read his book, U Can Save Our Worldand come up with an original idea or ideas that if adopted can preserve the future of our planet. Ninety-eight-year-old Julian is passionate about young people becoming serious future guardians of the Earth and about the safety and well-being of the next generations.
“We have to start talking to one another about the problems we are facing as a world community,” says Julian, a father, grandfather and great-grandfather. “My book has lots of ideas for solutions to the problems facing human civilization. Life has been good to me, and I’ve done a lot of interesting things, but I want to leave something behind for everyone’s children and future generations.”
Mr. Hyman’s ideas are contained in his book, U Can Save Our World, which is a bold proposal for profound worldwide change. Hyman, a life-long problem-solver, believes the world is teetering on the edge of catastrophe. He thinks our only hope for survival is working together and implementing some of his radical and thought-provoking ideas to transform civilization as we know it. And he knows there are more great ideas out there, which is why he has decided to see what college bound kids have to offer.
Julian Hyman was born in the 1920's when the world's population was estimated to be 2 billion. Today there are over 7.6 billion people on Earth and scientists think that by 2050 it will reach 10 billion. Hyman says our planet is in peril with polluted oceans, dwindling freshwater supplies, food scarcity, inadequate education, healthcare and massive wealth inequality. Meanwhile, world leaders continue to stockpile nuclear weapons taking the doomsday clock closer to midnight. It’s up to Generation Z to start taking the issues our planet faces seriously.
The scholarship is being launched through Hyman’s website www.UCanSaveOurWorld.com and is open to all college bound students who will be freshman in 2019-2020. Applicants are beings asked to write a thousand-word essay outlining their ideas and submitted through the website. The essayists must also read Hyman’s book which can be ordered or downloaded from the site in order to enter. Submissions will be judged by educators.
Hyman is using the proceeds to fund projects and ideas that will make the world a better place for future generations and bring us back from the edge of extinction. To do so there needs to be a mass movement of people who share his philosophies and who want to work together with imagination, compassion, and kindness towards the solutions that can save our planet and human civilization.
